Harlaxton is a small school in a northern suburb of Toowoomba, the regional centre of the Darling Downs, 140km west of Brisbane. The school opened on September 2nd, 1901 and currently enjoys partnerships with many local community organisations who support us economically and socially. The P & C Association plays a role in the life of the school by running the Tuckshop and Uniform Shops. These practical associations breathe life into our school motto: Making Connections-Creating Opportunities.
Our enrolment currently is 200 with students from diverse social, cultural, geographic and family backgrounds. Our 'The Whole Child' (PDF 203KB) logo is articulated within our various inclusion programs, aimed at ensuring ‘one year’s progress for one year at school’ for every student.
We are a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school with the core values of Respect, Resilience and Relationships.
Testimony to the success of our programs is the fact that since 2015 the school’s average relative gain, in the majority of learning areas assessed within NAPLAN, has exceeded that of the rest of the nation! In 2018, Harlaxton State School was awarded a commendation in the Showcase Awards (PDF 1.32MB) for Excellence in Schools (City Village Partnering for Success category).
