Harlaxton is a small school in a northern suburb of Toowoomba, the regional centre of the Darling Downs, 140km west of Brisbane. The school opened on September 2nd, 1901 and has strong partnerships with many local community organisations who support us economically and socially.
Harlaxton State School is a (PBL) ‘Positive Behaviour for Learning’ school. Our aim is to inspire students to succeed, foster high expectations and prepare them for positive participation within society. The school logo is the ‘Whole child’: Making connections and creating opportunities. We firmly believe the students at Harlaxton School must have their physical, cultural, community, social/emotional and academic needs met in order to remain resilient and perform well at school.
Our Explicit Improvement Agenda for 2024 focuses on:
- Aligning our teaching with the latest Australian Curriculum standards
- Improvement in English through moderation
- Student and staff wellbeing through communication, expectations, PBL and engagement
The Equity and Excellence education strategy outlines the Queensland Government’s vision for a progressive, high performing education system to realise the potential of every student and is aligned with our school values of Respect, Relationships and Resilience.
